Limno Globe

About Us

We are a consortium committed to using scientific knowledge and innovation to solve community and environmental challenges. Earth’s resources continue to dwindle as pollution and climate change threaten human existence and species diversity. Sustainability of life calls for protracted efforts to monitor, share data, and innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

Our team specializes in aquatic sciences, blue economy, environmental management, toxicology, microbial ecology, metagenomics, GIS mapping (Earth Observation), post-harvest technology, and limnology. Our main business is to assist communities, students, scholars, and governments towards environmental rehabilitation. We collect samples, analyze, train, report findings, and offer innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

Lake Victoria

The consortium was founded by a team of specialists in environmental studies around Lake Victoria, where the main economic activity was fishing. During their lifetime, they saw the water quality deteriorating due to poor regulation of sewage and industrial waste disposal.

The vibrant fishery economy dwindled, prompting the rise of cage aquaculture to support capture fisheries. These challenges sparked their interest in pursuing education around water science and participating in research and consultancies with like-minded institutes.

Scientific Expansion

During the early stages, they concentrated on converting waste into resources and developed innovations to map and convert fish waste into value-added products, which were disseminated for technology adoption.

Today, they have expanded the consortium to cover wider areas that include toxicology, microbial ecology, metagenomics, GIS mapping (Earth Observation), and limnology.
